When Jimmy met with Dr. Brad Penenberg, he knew that he had found the surgeon for him. Today, he refers to his doctor as “the only man who truly knows me inside and out”.
“When I went to Dr. Penenberg, he was the only guy (and believe me, I did a lot of research), who brought out samples, showed them to me, and explained to me exactly what was going to happen. That didn’t happen with everyone. They would rather talk 59 minutes of tennis and 1 minute of what I was going to go through, but Dr. Penenberg got straight to the point, told me what to expect, and I can’t thank him enough for that. His bedside manner sold me, and his surgery cured me.” Brad L. Penenberg, MD, combines a commitment to excellence in patient care with a focus on research. His practice is centered on solutions for patients with problems of the hip and knee. His research interests have involved young patients with hip disease, prosthesis design and biomaterials development. Dr. Penenberg has developed a specialty in treating patients with post-traumatic arthritis, and patients with joint infection. He also has extensive experience with revisions of existing hip and knee replacements, including autograft and allograft supplementation for bone deficiency. He holds seven U.S. patents on orthopedic instruments and devices. Dr. Penenberg performs hip and knee replacements using a minimally-invasive surgical technique. This innovative technique involves less trauma to muscles and soft tissue, and results in a significantly smaller surgical incision. The result for the patient is less pain after surgery and earlier, easier mobilization. Dr. Penenberg is a graduate of the George Washington University School of Medicine. He was the recipient of the Julius S. Neviaser Award in Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Penenberg completed his general surgical training at Albert Einstein Hospital in New York and his residency at Tufts-New England Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. After his residency, he remained in Boston for two years to complete a specialty fellowship in reconstructive surgery of the hip and knee at the Harvard University. During the fellowship, he was a research fellow and a clinical instructor of orthopedic surgery at Harvard University's School of Medicine. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a member of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and a qualified medical examiner.
